Matteo Clarke is an award-winning wildlife filmmaker and conservation advocate based in Bristol, UK. With a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Matteo transitioned to freelance work in 2023 and has worked across continents to bring character-driven natural history to screens, from tropical canopies and coral reefs to Arctic coasts and the African savannah.
Matteo’s diverse background, being half French, half English, and raised in Germany, adds depth to his storytelling and has allowed him to collaborate with various European productions and travel globally to produce documentaries as a freelance filmmaker and photographer.
He regularly contributes to conferences, festivals, and outreach initiatives, where he speaks on wildlife filmmaking, ethical storytelling, and the intersection of science and conservation. Through these engagements, Matteo seeks to broaden the impact of his work beyond the screen, helping to foster a deeper public connection to the natural world.
His directorial debut documentary KALU: Growing Up Wild (2023) continues to screen internationally, and recent credits include serving as cinematographer for a feature documentary in the Brazilian Amazon and DOP for a science-focused documentary in Uganda.
In 2024, he also completed Heart Of The Osa, a short documentary for the Global Sustainability Collective, and is currently developing a range of new short and feature documentaries, alongside branded content collaborations with partners such as Laowa and Craghoppers. In 2024, Matteo co-founded WildReach Productions Ltd., aimed at amplifying conservation efforts through impactful storytelling.
More of his work can be soon on his Talent Manager Page.
